Arriving at Coral Crater

The night opens at the gate with a lei greeting, setting the tone for an evening built as a village to walk through rather than a theatre to file into.

The hour before dinner

Guests move freely between hands-on stations — Polynesian cooking, headband weaving, a hula lesson, temporary tattoos and cracking open a fresh coconut — while free digital photos with the cast are taken along the way.

The feast

Slow-roasted kalua pork comes out of the ʻumu with warm taro rolls, grilled pineapple and haupia coconut pudding, alongside a kava bar and unlimited non-alcoholic drinks.

The history starts in 1410

The show's first act is staged around the Battle of Kīpapa, which the venue dates to 1410 — a defence of Oʻahu fought centuries before European contact.

Kamehameha and the wider Pacific

From there the story jumps forward to Kamehameha I's unification campaign, then opens out to Tonga, Fiji, Samoa, Tahiti and the Cook Islands, each performed in turn.

The finale

A fire-knife performance closes the night, with open flame and flashing lights as part of the act — worth knowing in advance if that affects anyone in your group.
